Oakley California History

The exhibition, provided by Oakley Historical Society, a 501 (c) (3) nonprofit, showcases Oakley's evolving and endearing community.

Oakley began in the mid-19th century as essentially four hamlets scattered west, east and west of Oak and Leigh. The city of Brentwood borders it from the south, Bethel Island is located to the east and the city of Antioch joins the state of California, Los Angeles County, San Francisco Bay Area, Santa Barbara County and San Diego County to the west. Oakly borders the city of Oakland, California, on the San Bernardino River from east to west and west to east, connecting the city and San Jose County, CA, from north to south and south to north. Oakley is bordered by Antioch, Calabasas, Marin, Contra Costa, Sonoma, Ventura and Santa Clara County by a creek, the River of the Bay; its sister city Oakland City is connected to the east by Betchel Island.

The Marsh Creek Regional Trail provides access to the City of Oakley and the Oakland - Contra Costa County Regional Park District. The ECCFPD serves as the main trailhead for Marsh Creek and its tributary, the San Bernardino River, as well as other local trails.

Oakley's western border is Highway 160, which provides access to the Oakland-Contra Costa County Regional Park District. Oakley is located just a few miles from San Francisco and Sacramento, and is just a few miles from the San Bernardino River and its tributary, the Sacramento River, the City of Oakland and the ECCFPD. The western border is the East Bay, California, US Highway 101 and Highway 80, both of which run from Oakland to San Jose, San Mateo County, Sacramento and San Diego County.

Oakley has experienced between 21 and 16 inches of rainfall a year, according to CNN reports, and has experienced 52 clear days this year. The clearest part of the year in Oakley starts on May 13 and lasts 5.4 months and ends on October 24. Based on this measurement, the best time to visit Oakly in terms of weather conditions is from mid-June to the end of September. Oakley has seen between 20 and 24 inches of rainfall in the past year, with a total of 5 to 10 feet of rainfall in recent years, according to a report by the US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), which is available to CNN. It has also experienced up to 21-16 gallons (4 to 7.6 liters) per square meter (1.2 to 3.8 cubic meters) and in some years even 30 consecutive days of rain (3 to 5 days).

Oakley experienced the national economic boom of the 1920s, and there was an increase in the number of retail stores, restaurants, hotels, and other businesses. In 1929, it expanded its retail operations by opening its first outlet store, located in Milpitas, California.

The store, known as the Oakley Vault, offered non-existent styles and selected first merchandise from Oakley's archives. At the end of 2001, there were plans to extend the concept to markets in California, Texas and Florida.

Oakley expanded its distribution channels in early 2002 when it began opening a concept store in Macy's department store in the west of Paris, offering Oakley products from all of the company's product categories.

With an ever-expanding product range and distribution network, Oakley was a tough competitor, and there seemed no reason to doubt that it would remain one of the hottest consumer brands. The new owners of Sunglass Hut would lead to less storage of Oakley products, but there seems to have been some reason for doubt as to whether Or Oakly would remain one of the trendiest consumer brands. These doubts proved justified when Luxottica informed Oakleys in early August 2001 that they expected Sunglasses Hut to increase the number of prescription lenses available for purchase in the company's retail stores. They expected this to reduce the time it takes to get prescription sunglasses from three weeks to just one week, and planned to order a total of 1.5 million prescription eyeglasses for the month of August.

In March, Father Belt was invited to give his first sermon in the same church building that would eventually be the very place where he was to be organized. Other celebrities associated with Oakley sunglasses include George Clooney, Robert DeNiro and Bill Gates. The fact that these two celebrities, like many others, endorsed Oakley's products helped to make the Or Oakly is one of the most recognized sunglasses brands on the market. In October of that year, Smith and Oakley stepped forward to welcome Queen Victoria to the Royal Albert Hall in London for her visit to the United States.

In January 1996 Oakley unveiled its new interplanetary headquarters, located in Foothill Ranch, California, north of Los Angeles. They are still struggling with the aftermath of the sunglasses debacle and moved into their new F Smoothill Ranch headquarters in March 1997.
